NHL playoffs: Penguins implode in Game 3 loss to Senators
Game 3 of the NHL’s Eastern Conference finals could not end soon enough for the Penguins.
They were badly outplayed from start to finish in a 5-1 loss to the Senators on Wednesday. The Senators now lead the best-of-seven series two games to one.
Ottawa’s Mike Hoffman scored just 48 seconds into the game and the Senators poured it on from there. Hoffman’s goal was the first of an outburst that set a franchise playoff record for the fastest three goals (2:18).
All teams, including the four All-Star teams but excluding the Vegas Golden Knights, are playable in Online Versus mode and NHL THREES. In the latter, four active players and two substitutes are selected from a chosen team. EA Sports Hockey League utilizes created characters.
This is the third consecutive year a beta has been held for the NHL series. The first two had their week-long beta extended for several more days than initially planned. The extra time has allowed for additional testing of the online capabilities and collection of feedback, which has helped make the online experience much smoother for launch along with features being better balanced for the competitive online environment.

In a game which would have shifted drastically on a single goal, two near-misses loomed large. First, Bryan Rust had a sure goal halfway through the first period when Daniel Winnik’s stick canceled those plans at the goal line.
