NHL playoffs 2017: Ducks tie series vs. Predators with OT win in Game 4

The NHL’s Western Conference finals between the Ducks and Predators resumed Thursday in Nashville. Visiting Anaheim evened the series at two games apiece with a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 4.

Corey Perry’s pass from the boards deflected off P.K. Subban’s stick and into the net at 10:33 of the first overtime period to give the Ducks the win.

A question on the topic of head injuries elicited Kariya’s longest response of Monday’s conference call.

Insisting he doesn’t harbor ill will against the NHL, he feels concussion protocol is going in the right direction, though there is still progress to be made.

There’s no fences to be mended, Kariya said. I’m very grateful for every second I played in the National Hockey League and hockey in general.

It was my dream, my passion. Everything I put into my career was because I loved the game of hockey. I didn’t retire willingly. I would have loved to have kept playing. If there was any way of waving a magic wand and getting that back … I would do it again in a heartbeat.

No matter who his linemates are, Niederreiter said he’s now focused on going out and continue his development arc.

I’ve been fortunate to be with the Wild for quite a bit now, and obviously for each year I’ve been trying to get better and better, he said. That’s been showing the past four years. Now the goal is to get even better, and now getting the chance to stay there for the next five years it’s just a matter of getting better, and working harder to be a better player and help the team win.
